Reusing paint in the community.
RePaint is a UK-wide network of over 60 community based
organisation collecting reusable, leftover domestic paint
from household waste recycling centres, retailers,
decorators and the paint trade. This is then passed on to
individuals and families in social need, charities,
community groups and voluntary groups for art and
The operation of Community RePaint schemes also provides
opportunities for employment, work training and volunteers.
Community Works are one of the 60 nation wide
organisations providing this RePaint scheme. Community
Centres, playgrounds and gardens, village halls, schools and
amateur sports clubs have all benefited from RePaint.
Approximately 366 million litres of paint are sold in the
UK each year. It is estimated that 55 million litres are
left unused, stored or simply thrown away. Thatís enough to
fill 22 Olympic-sized swimming pools!
